A hands-on Learning Lab experience by Soil Rooted Remedies

Little Herbalists: Skincare Apothecary Builder is a multi-week herbal learning experience created to help young learners build a meaningful relationship with plants while developing practical skills they can carry forward.

Throughout the course, learners explore six foundational herbs — calendula, lemon balm, plantain, yarrow, rose, and marshmallow — through plant identification, traditional uses, therapeutic actions, herbal safety, sensory observation, journaling, and guided botanical preparation.

The experience follows a simple rhythm:

Learn the Plant
Discover the herb’s common and Latin name, characteristics, traditional uses, actions, and safety.

Experience the Herb
Explore aroma, appearance, texture, and taste when appropriate through guided organoleptic learning and journaling.

Create With Purpose
Apply what was learned through hands-on skincare preparations and botanical projects.

Build the Apothecary
Develop an introductory skincare apothecary alongside herbal reference materials and practical knowledge learners can continue using beyond the course.

Families may select from three enrollment options:

Digital Course
For families who prefer digital learning materials and plan to source their own hands-on supplies.

Digital Course + Apothecary Kit
Includes digital course materials plus a shipped Little Herbalists kit with course materials for the hands-on experience.

Printed Course + Apothecary Kit
Includes the hands-on kit along with printed course materials for families who prefer a physical curriculum, journal, and reference materials.

This is a hands-on herbal course involving direct contact with herbs and botanical ingredients.

Parents and caregivers should review the featured plants and consider any known allergies or sensitivities before enrollment. Adult participation or supervision may be required for some preparation activities.

Detailed scheduling, preparation instructions, household supply requirements, and course access information are provided to enrolled families before the program begins.
